On the Way to Leo at El Vicio, Coyoacán
On Friday, February 27th, a very special screening of our documentary “On the Way to Leo” took place, as part of the new film series being presented at this iconic cultural space in Coyoacán. The screening was attended by gender specialist and sexologist Dr. David Barrios and young communicator Neidan Macías, activist for the rights of trans men in Mexico City.
At the end of the screening, a very interesting conversation took place with the audience, especially due to the expressions of many young trans people present at the screening who identified with Leo himself, one of the protagonists of this film. It was very moving to see how cinema can build such profound bridges of understanding.
Important topics were also discussed, such as the acceptance of young trans people within their families, the support that should be provided in cases of trans children, as well as collectives and support networks to face a global situation where the rights already won by the trans community remain at risk. We thank dear Nora Huerta from the theater and cabaret group “Las reinas chulas” for the invitation, as well as the entire team at Teatro Bar El Vicio who made this screening possible. #WeKeepMovingForward
