“On the Way to Leo” on International Transgender Day of Visibility
On March 31st, we attended by invitation of Musas de Metal, Grupo LBTQ A.C. and the association Te amo, me amo Trans at the Clínica Especializada Condesa, for a special screening of the documentary film “On the Way to Leo,” about my son Leo’s gender transition and how we were able to understand and embrace this process as a family.
Due to technical issues, we had to postpone the screening until further notice, but it didn’t prevent us from having a very enriching conversation with the audience present, mostly families and Trans people, who shared with us their experience of growth, resilience and love regarding their children’s stories and how they confronted the most common feelings of fear, anger and confusion, to give way to understanding, love and why not, all with a great sense of humor to form a community that listens to you, understands you and continues to be an important support network, thanks to the recreational and therapeutic activities that Pol Peredo, his team of collaborators and a large group of Trans families carry out year after year.
A group of mothers and fathers of which I am currently part, as they have been great allies of the film and the implicit message that advocates for a new social education to embrace each and every right of sexual diversity and the Trans community.
